A belated catch-up!
So, what have we been up to since the start of the pandemic?
During a very difficult time for us all, Quaintwood Players kept in touch using the power of Zoom with regular chats and play readings to keep our spirits up.
None of us knew what the future would hold or how long before we could meet face to face again, but we were determined that the group would stay together and be back on stage again.
Fortunately, we were able to start getting together again towards the end of 2021 and, with a lot of hard work, put on our wonderful Pantomime, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the beginning of 2022.
Our super supportive audiences joined us to see some great acting and lots of fun, which also brought us yet another Noda award for Charlie’s portrayal of an excellent talking French Poodle - the Nigel Gravette award for best performance in a panto for our district.
Following on from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ after a few weeks off, we gathered together again and welcomed three new members to the group.
For the rest of 2022, we worked hard to produce the excellent play ‘Calendar Girls’ having been fortunate enough to have been granted a rare licence to perform this highly emotional roller coaster of a story.
Six of our brave ladies took on the title roles and took off their clothes to tell the story of the ladies of the WI raising money for a great cause. We too used the opportunity to raise money for charity and, in just four performances, raised over £1800 to be shared between Blood Cancer UK and Florence Nightingale House Hospice.
So what’s next?
In April 2023 we will be putting on a Variety Show with lots of new sketches, songs, dancing and comedy. We hope you can come along and see us.
